Five Questions with Angel Companions of Bucks County in Pennsylvania
Alex Gelleri of Angel Companions of Bucks County, located in Pennsylvania, joined us for an interview sharing his experience on how he got started in home care and how he and his team enjoy using Generations. The care team at Angel Companions of Bucks County has been utilizing the Generations to deliver safe, quality care. We’re so grateful Alex took the time to share his experience using Generations and the importance of delivering quality care.

#1. Tell us about your agency and how you got started in home care.
My wife has been a caregiver for over 18 years and came home happy every day! She came home with this excitement and happiness every day knowing she was helping someone. I was looking to do something local after commuting 1 ½ hours each way for work. The idea of helping in my local community was very appealing and my wife inspired me to look into the home care industry. The idea and concept of really being a part of the community and helping serve my community really appealed to me.

#2. What are your goals for using a homecare system like Generations?
It is great to have a system that is extremely functional. It has made scheduling easier and is a wonderful tool to help anyone in this type of business of homecare. I a big believer in not trying to reinvent the wheel, any Generation has already done that with this wonderful system. So, ease of use was a big attraction!
#3. In addition to Generations, what else has contributed to your success?
As in any business endeavor, hard work and getting our name out there. We take pride in how we take care of our clients and receive a lot of good feedback from them. We also have a supervisor who has 42 years of nursing experience and she is a great resource. Not only for the clients but for our caregivers as well! We are lucky to have her.
#4. What is your experience with Generations Support and Training?
The support and training staff at Generations has been exemplary. The training programs and all the videos are so well produced and easy to follow. I have been with you for 7 years, and the support personnel has been extremely helpful with any issues or concerns I have had, they continue to always follow up and stick around until the problems are solved. I can’t thank them enough for the wonderful job they have done for us.
#5. How has Generations Mobile App helped your agency?
For starters, the caregivers LOVE it! There are a lot of young caregivers coming into the industry and they are pretty tech-savvy. So, they enjoy the ability to GPS their way to a location/shift, as well as clock in, and clock out of their shifts from the app. Also, one of the best features or appreciated features is the ability to see available shifts and request those shifts right from the app! The Generations app is an amazing tool that our caregivers love and enjoy having available to them.

#6 (bonus question!) What are your hopes or goals for your agency in 2021?
That’s a very good question! 2020 was a challenging year as well as 2021. My hopes are to continue to serve the community the way we have been the last 7 years and we are playing a little more defense than offense right now. You have to be a little bit nimble in this industry. Changing gears and focus when needed so right now playing a little more defense than I would like but we do hope that is going to work itself out and we will continue on. Hoping 2021 will continue to be a successful year.
